About Us
Gene & Robin Morrill love the foothill community of Glendora. Robin has lived here most of her life and Gene, who grew up in the Covina area, moved to Glendora when they married in 1985 and live in the same house in a great neighborhood.
Gene and Robin have 2 children:
Cortney, who is now 26, graduated with her AA degree from Citrus College and then graduated from La Verne University 2 years later with her BA and now has her Masters degree. She has moved to Arizona and is teaching 3rd grade. She is married with a little girl Amelia. Cortney has been recognized by the Glendora Coordinating Council for her volunteer work and earned the Girl Scout Gold Award.
Dylan is 22, graduated Citrus College with an AA in criminal justice and will graduate in 2017 with a BA in Sociology. He participated in Scouts for many years but went on to sports, especially baseball and enjoyed playing for GHS.
Both kids benefited from the outstanding schools in Glendora, which was the primary reason why the Morrill family put down roots here.
The community services department of Glendora has been awesome as well. Both children used and enjoyed the many different programs available to the youth of our town. Cortney worked for the city in the community service department for five years.
The year of 1985 was challenging for Gene and Robin. In that one year, they got married, bought Certified Automotive Specialists, and purchased their home in Glendora. WOW.
The Glendora community is special.
The Morrill’s neighborhood is a tightly-knit, fun-loving group of families that spend time celebrating the holidays and BBQing together at the end of their cul-de-sac. Gene often says, “You just can’t find better people than in Glendora.”
The Morrill’s love to get involved in their community as well. Over the years, they’ve been involved with many civic groups. A partial list includes: the school PTA, Sports, Scouts, Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, several Boards, local and auto-industry-related political action committees, and community events. In his spare time, Gene writes a weekly column for the local newspaper: “Car Talk: What you ‘AUTO’ Know.” As a result, Certified Automotive Specialists will always support the many clubs, sports groups, schools and other organizations that do so much good in the greater Glendora community.
From The Beginning:
Originally, the company was started by 3 Citrus College auto shop instructors in 1978. It was a small, 4 bay shop and Gene Morrill was hired as a technician from the college, earning $2.10 per hour. Eight years later in 1985, the company was sold to Gene and Robin Morrill.
We slowly expanded the company to 8, then 12 bays. Business and customers steadily increased and in 2002 they took a huge step and leased the 7800 S.F. building when it became available. Presently, we have 20 bays and have added 8 hoists, for a total of 15 bays, along with the latest computerized alignment machine and a pro cut brake lathe.
After 39 years, Certified Auto and its staff have grown by leaps and bounds. We have two service advisors that work with our customers, a parts manager who is in charge of our inventory and purchasing, an office manager who handles appointments and paper work, a shop foreman to dispatch and keep the back shop productive, two ASE master techs for drive ability, smog and electrical, one ASE master tech for heavy line work, two ASE service techs for maintenance, a lube tech, two clean up and porter staff, and a part time office person for filing and follow-up calls and a part-time payroll and general office person. These people do their jobs incredibly well and keep our management procedures working like a well-oiled machine.
We are a one stop shop for our customers. This makes our customers’ lives easier. Our services include repairing hybrids, diesel, RV’s, and contractor’s (fleet) trucks. Our shop provides the required under-warranty maintenance on new vehicles so customers won’t be required to return to the dealer for scheduled maintenance. We offer free local shuttle rides to and from work or home in our 1957 Chevy taxi and have many while-you-wait services, in a clean, comfortable waiting room, with free internet, so our customers can get in and out quickly.
We love our customers, and it shows!
